Help - Breeding

How Do I Make Money?
Sell manure, which is the easiest way if you don't have a twenty days' membership. You can do this at the store. Another way is to sell one of your horses. Make sure the price is under 800 if the horse is a foal, but if the horse you are selling has many black market items you should sell it for more to get your passes' worth.  A truly easy way is to stand your stallion at public or private stud.  In the first place, though, don't buy more than you can afford.

I Can't Pass My Riding Level!
You should consult the help of the Howrse Help Forum that has the answers to the hardest tests. Some ECs have riding level answers on their forum. Or, take a break and try again. You will pass it eventually. Do some research to help you out as well if you really need help.

My horse is sick. What do I do?
The anti-poisoning capsule clears up any illness, but some energy or morale may be deducted.

Why can't I  enter my horse in a show?
Your horse has to be shod and have a saddle and bridle. You can buy all of these at the store, but they will need repaired and dusted often. The Atalante's Saddle and Athena's Bridle do not wear and tear, but keep in mind that you can't take it off the horse you give it to. Hephaestus' Horseshoes are the bonus and do not wear or need to be replaced. Or, the cause is that you have already put your horse to sleep for the night.

How do I take care of my horse?
You have to feed, water, and groom/pet your horse every day. The most important thing is to put them to sleep at night, or they will lose energy or morale! Pay attention to the temperature and weather or you won't be able to put your horse in the pasture. You also should ride and train your horse often. Don't overwork your horse! Their energy will suffer and it will take a long time to rebuild.

How do I breed my horses?
Well, for starters, your horse must be two and a half years old. If your horse is a mare, click find a horse for my mare under breeding and select a stallion within your price range. Keep in mind that twins usually cost 600e for foaling but a normal foal will cost anything from 500 to 600e. To breed a male, offer a covering or reserve a mare (make sure their owner has your permission first, top breeders tend to hate that) to breed, within a price range. You can also geld your horse to maximize performance, but only with males.

How do I buy a horse?
You must pass Riding Level 2 to acess the auctions. Then, see a horse. It is a good idea to check its bloodlines if you are looking for a purebred and haven't yet passed Level 4. Place a bid by typing in the price that you would like to purchase the horse with. Be aware that you can be outbid. Sometimes, if you win the horse, you can't find it. So log out and log back in and the horse should appear as yours for care. To acess the private auctions,  you must have a karma of three. Here, you can sell horses for passes as well as money and bids are a thing of the past because you can simply buy the horse!

How do I customize my profile?
Simple: click on My Profile under Home and update to your liking. You can copy and paste pics and write about you and your horses. Make sure you push EDIT MY PROFILE when you are done to save your changes. To view your new page, go to the icons under Home and click My Page.

Help - Equestrian Centers

How do I create this in the first place and what is it?
When you pass riding level 3, go to the section with the stables called my equestrian center and click on any icon to start creating your EC. What is it? Your very own virtual farm, stables, barn, or ranch, whatever you want to call it!

Won't this cost me money??
No, you have a seperate reserve for your EC. Use it wisely, though!

How do I raise my prestige?
Raise the minimum skills of horses to be boarded in your EC. Buy better quality boxes and meadows to raise space, cleanliness, and fertility of the meadows. Run races and use better bedding. This may or may not help.

How do I grow crops?
Buy a fertile meadow and find out what season it is. Except for pass seeds, nothing grows in winter or autumn. It will take 5-7 days for the crops to grow. You have to buy seeds, pesticides, and fertilizer as well. Sometimes storms or bugs will take away some of your crops. To harvest them, click start the harvest. Unless they are carrots you should sell them to Mr. Hubert at the store.  Remember to stop the harvest so your meadow can regain its fertility.

I can't grow my crops!
This is because you probably bought only enough seeds and supplies for 3 acres. Medium-sized meadows will need double the amount, and the large-meadows required 9 acres' worth of growing supply, or 3x the small-meadow's amount. Or, it is the wrong season.

Tips

-Combine the names of a horse's parent's names to create the perfect name. There are too many Spirits, Beauties, and Blackies on Howrse! Also, if it's already a good name, don't change it.

-If you're jealous of other breeder's layouts, and don't want to pay for one, try ebonygraphix.co.uk, it has some of the best designs. Some people (like me) have the link for All-Howrse on their page, the one with the zorse. Click on it. It will take you to the site, which offers six  free layouts. Remember to switch to HMTL and copy and paste the code!

-Unusual or rare colors can be acheived without complicated plans (just look at Seltzer, my mouse gray stally!). Here are some combinations that may work (but not guranteed), because of the bloodlines of many studs. I have only proven, or tried and suceeded, with a few of these, but I look at stallion's offsprings' bloodlines to figure out the most common color combos. The stallion is the first color, if you are confused.  I only know Thoroughbred ones, but these may or may not work on Arabians too!
Cherry bay + Chestnut = Mouse gray (This is Seltzer's combination. His half-sister was the same, but only a dark bay resulted.)
Black + White = Strawberry Roan
Strawberry Roan + Strawberry Roan = Strawberry Roan (So common! I don't have a SR yet)
Cherry Bay + Dun = Strawberry Roan
Dun + Strawberry Roan = Strawberry Roan or Dun
Black + Cherry Bay = Roan
Black + Chestnut = Buckskin
White + Buckskin = Roan
Roan + Gray = Roan
Dun + Dun = White
Strawberry Roan + Strawberry Roan = Dun (I wish I could figure this one out! I see it so much.)
Strawberry Roan + Light Bay = Buckskin
Mouse Gray + Light Bay = Mouse Gray (tried once and proven! Result is Blue Medallion.)
Buckskin + Dun = Strawberry Roan
Light Bay + Light Bay = Buckskin
Don't sue me if they don't work and don't totally depend on them, but I hope they help. Most times a bay or chestnut will result.
